Maria Ruiz Helps Impoverished Families in Mexico

First, we want to introduce you to Maria Ruiz.

Several times a week Maria leaves her home in El Paso, Texas to cross the border into Juarez, Mexico,

bringing food, clothing, and toys for hundreds of poor children and their families.

Here's her story.

El Paso and Juarez, Mexico, they are known as the twin cities.

But you cross over the border into Juarez, you notice the difference.

In 1996, I came to the outskirts of Juarez.

When I saw the poverty level that they were living in, my world changed completely.

I'm Maria Ruiz and I cross the border to help people in Juarez.

I decided to start the food program.

I fed approximately 1,200 kids on a daily basis for three and a half years.

Now, we collect the donations.

We take furniture, food, toys, almost about anything.

We're ready to go.

Crossing the border involves hard work and time.

I've crossed, oh, thousands of times.

We give out whatever we have.

Buenos Diaz.

It's like a distribution center.

All of the work we do is part of the families ministry.

But regardless of whether they are Christian, it's equal for everybody.

I don't consider myself a hero.

I know I can do much more.

우선, 여러분께 마리아 루이스 씨를 소개해드리겠습니다.

그녀는 일주일에 몇 번씩 텍사스 주 엘파소의 집을 떠나 국경을 넘어 멕시코 후아레스에 가는데요,

미국의 엘파소와 멕시코의 후아레스는 쌍둥이 같은 도시로 알려져 있죠.

하지만 국경을 넘어 후아레스로 들어서면, 두 도시간의 차이를 알 수 있습니다.

1996년, 저는 후아레스 외곽 지역에 갔었습니다.

그곳 사람들의 열악한 생활수준을 보고 나서, 저의 세상은 완전히 달라졌습니다.

저는 마리아 루이스고요, 후아레스 지역 사람들을 돕기 위해 국경을 넘고 있습니다.

저는 식량 지원 프로그램을 시작하기로 결심했습니다.

3년 반 동안 매일 대략 1천200명의 아이들을 먹이고 있습니다.

현재 저희는 기부 물품을 모으고 있고요,

가구며 음식, 장난감 등 거의 모든 물건들을 받고 있습니다.

우리는 (도움을 주러) 갈 준비가 되어있습니다.

국경을 넘는 데는 많은 수고와 시간이 요구됩니다.

저는 국경을 넘었습니다. 수천 번이나요.

우리가 가진 것이라면 무엇이든 나눠줍니다.

좋은 아침입니다.

저희가 하는 모든 일들은 가정 사역의 일환입니다.

하지만 기독교인이든 아니든, 모두를 똑같이 대합니다.

전 제 자신을 영웅이라고 생각지 않습니다.
